Divergent

Movie Review: Divergent

This is the story about a world which has been divided into distinct groups based on human virtues. Set in futuristic Chicago, the community is enclosed in an electrified fence. The entire community is divided into five factions. The children belong to the faction in which their parents are in. On attaining 16 yrs. They have to undergo a test, which will decide to which faction they actually belong. Tris Prior, the female protagonist, does not fit into any group. So she is labeled as a Divergent. Soon she finds out many like her who do not fit into any group. She also unravels a conspiracy to finish of all Divergents by a faction leader. Tris must try to do everything under her capability to save herself and her fellow divergents.

Shailene Woodley as Tris Prior has put up an excellent performance and we get to see how a person under constant threat can still be a daring personality. She is ably supported by Theo James as sergeant Four, who does everything that can help Tris escape the deadly faction leader. Kate Winslet as Jeannie Matthews is excellent. Director Neil Berger, (who also made “Limitless” and “The Illusionist”) did an amazing job because he has successfully made everything look real. This movie is a must watch for all movie goers who love sci-fi and action oriented movies. Compelling, packed with great acting this movie also has some intense scenes. Do not miss it for anything.
